The Petzen

1,700 meters above sea level up on the mountain by cable car. On your own or with the family. With skis, a snowboard, hiking poles, climbing equipment or a bike.

The latter is one of the most exciting ways to experience the Petzen. As well as a practice course and an e-bike track, the Bikepark Petzen also offers a 10.5 km-long Flow Country Trail — one of the longest in Europe.

It’s when I feel the stony path beneath my feet that I feel the strongest connection with the mountain. As the saying goes, “the mountain is calling, and I must go.” And the perfectly signposted route takes me along the Karawanken-Karavanke Trail up to the Feistritzer Spitze (2114 m) and the Kordeschkopf (2126 m). And the magnificent view over the Eastern Karawanken mountains and the Jauntal valley is included for free.

If you make a very early start or spend the night in a mountain hut, watching the sun rise at dawn is an awe-inspiring experience.

The Petzen in the Karawanken Mountains is the last 2000-meter-high peak in the Alps. And one of the most diverse: A natural wonder, a place full of adventure and action, but also full of tranquillity Everyone discovers their own mountain here. Their own nature game.
