King Matthias is said to have been a brave hero, promoter of art and science, and skilled statesman. Many stories entwine around him. He is said to have often traveled incognito disguised as a beggar in order to learn more about the worries and concerns of his people. According to a Slovenian legend, King Matthias (Kralj Matjaž) waits inside the Petzen/Peca for the world battle.
